Pack Mentality
Laminate flooring is usually supplied in packs which will tell you how much they contain in square metres. Most packs are around one square metre, but they do vary so make sure you check.

Measure Twice
There’s an old DIY adage that says ‘measure twice, cut once’, and it applies equally well to buying flooring. Measure the length and width of your room and multiply the two figures together to get the square metres. If you have an L-shape or alcoves, treat them as a series of separate rectangles and add the totals together.
Always add ten per cent to your final figure to allow for wastage (multiply your final figure by 1.1), and round up the number of packs you need. So if your area plus ten percent is 8.2sqm, you would buy nine 1sqm packs.
