Bournemouth
One of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, this seven mile stretch of sand is a great place to spend a summer holiday. Cornwall

Weymouth
One of the most popular seaside towns in the UK, Weymouth has everything, from funfairs to shops, and of course the huge sandy beach which is great for kids to play on. Weymouth has been popular with holiday makers for many years; in fact the Victorians even enjoyed a holiday in sunny Weymouth!

Life beyond the summer crowds in Weymouth
Weymouth and Portland are not only a summer destination. The Jurassic Coast draws visitors all year for its walks and views, and for fossils that offer a window onto a world from the age of the dinosaurs, before human life began. The blue flag beach at Weymouth, with its golden sand and shallow, calm water, makes it especially good for families with young children.
Tourism is the biggest local business, and everyone from taxi drivers to tearooms feels the summer rush. But the area is more than a seaside resort. Portland stone has been quarried for many years and still employs many people, and newer businesses have grown up alongside the old industries.
For anyone who falls for the place, it is easy to see the appeal of staying. There are moonlit strolls on the sands, winter walks along the beach, the countryside around Lulworth Castle and Moonfleet Manor nearby, and no shortage of fish and chip shops.
