How to keep your employees safe during a heatwave

The summer months are finally here and with it they will bring warmer weather and in some cases this could mean having to deal with heatwaves. It is hard enough to manage these kinds of heats when you are at home, but it can become a health nightmare in the workplace. Cooling – there are lots of different ways that you can keep a workplace cool. You might want to consider adding a  Brise Soleil like the ones available from alusystems.uk to the outside of your building to help direct the sunlight away from the windows.Other options include having air conditioning and other cooling systems within your building.

Hydration – it is important you encourage your employees to stay hydrated, especially in the summer. You can do this by providing them with water coolers and providing enough breaks during the day so that they can get themselves a drink, or encourage employees to make drinks throughout the day.

Flexible schedules – if your type of work allows for it, you might want to implement flexible working schedules during a heatwave. This might mean allowing your staff to come in earlier and to leave earlier so as to avoid working during the hottest parts of the day. You might also want to consider allowing them to work from home for some periods of the time.
