Don’t Remove the Wax Coating on your Flooring

The wax coating on the floor is there to protect it from scratches and damage. It also prevents staining and preserves the floor, making it last as long as possible. Treating your floor properly is the best way to ensure you get the best value for money, and in the case of laminate flooring, looking after the wax surface is the way to do that.

What Are the Risks?

The wax coating is at risk from abrasive brushing or vacuuming as well as from abrasive cleaning products. It is also at risk from getting too wet. All of these things need to be taken into consideration when preserving your floor.

Preparing Your Floor

Prepare your laminate flooring for washing by gently removing the dust and dirt. Make sure you use a dust mop or a soft brush for this.  Gently go over the area and occasionally check to make sure no damage has been done section at a time.

If you want to vacuum your flooring, do not use a roller brush, as this may damage the wax. You could use a hand held device with an extension to slowly suck up any dirt visible.  This may take longer but it will save your flooring in the long run and save you money.

Wood Laminate

A good way to stop any wax coming of your Laminate Wood Flooring could be to paint a varnish on it but before you do that it might be best to contact a specialist in this area including irwintiles.ie/index.php/wooden-flooring.html.  Companies will have trained staff that know exactly what flooring you need and will often give you a run down on what to do and not do do when looking after your floor.

Cleaning the Floor While Protecting the Wax

The best solution for cleaning your floor is to use white vinegar. This is a powerful solution that can even remove adhesive from the floor. Prepare a solution of one part vinegar to two parts water. Use a sponge to clean your floor. Make sure the sponge has been squeezed to avoid excess water getting on your floor.  Big car sponges can often work well as they hold water well and cover a larger area.

For a streak-free way to look after your floor, this is the best solution!
