How we’ve used the sun and technology

Light from the sun’s rays is one of the reasons why there is life on this planet.  if for whatever reason the sun was to ever stop shining the outlook would be very bleak indeed.  the earth would slowly become a ball of ice and nothing would grow and  life would be impossible.  through the millennia of human existence we’ve recognised the immense power that the sun has over us.  So much so we’ve started to use the sun in a variety of ways to our advantage.

Even in ancient times the sun has provided people with something other than life-giving heat.  If you go back three thousand years you can see the majesty of Stonehenge and how it was used to track the phases of the moon and the sun.  The equinoxes of spring and summer, winter and autumn would see huge crowds gather to watch the sunlight break through the  stones and show signs and   portents for the phases of the year.
