Bolton Abbey
The ruins of this old priory certainly look spooky. It was closed during the dissolution of the monasteries under King Henry VIII. It is said to be one of the most haunted places in Yorkshire, home to a ghost known as the Black Canon. Legend has it that although he died before the dissolution, he has never been able to rest peacefully. Wearing a dark cloak and hat, his shadowy figure has reportedly been spotted wandering the ruins, and visitors have heard footsteps when nobody appeared to be there.
Bolling Hall
The beautiful Bolling Hall in Bradford dates back to the 14th century, so it has a lot of history. There have been many ghost reports from the building over the years, many of which send shivers up the spine! From a lady in white who roams the hallways, to a man in a long coat standing by the fireplace, to the chilling sound of a crying baby, this is not a place for the faint-hearted!
Carbrook Hall
This historic Sheffield building later became a pub. For hundreds of years it was a meeting place as well as a drinking establishment, and it is said to have been used by Parliamentarians for meetings during the Civil War in the 1640s, in the time of Oliver Cromwell. There have been reports of the ghost of Colonel John Bright, who once lived at the hall, wandering the rooms, as well as sightings of an elderly female ghost.
